Oh the pain!

February 6th, 2008 at 11:06 am

I blogged a while back that I had hurt myself but did'nt get into any details.
Well, against my better judgement I got on my kids' trampoline with my daughter for all of 30 whole seconds when I felt my lower back "compact." Little did I know that I would pay dearly for my stupidity.

That evening and the next day my lower back hurt, but then the pain over the next week started traveling down my left leg. I figured It would eventually ease up, buy it has only progressively gotten worse. I can hardly walk at times and the pain is unbearable.

I went to the chiropractor thinking he could help but no. Two days later still a lot of pain. I have a doctors appt this morning. Hopefully something good will come out of it. The pain is almost indescribable. And the muscle spasms...WOW! Frown

Some say it's a pulled muscle, while others say it's a pinched nerve. I don't know because I haven't ever had either.

Wish me luck at the appt. Smile

Ouch! Hope it's not a disc issue, which is hard to get over.

    Pain shooting down one leg?
Might be a herniated disk pushing against the sciatic nerve. My DH just had surgery for this two months ago.
Good luck with your Dr. appointment. The Dr. should recommend an MRI for you.

Just got back from the doctor. He took X-rays to make sure nothing was broken. Sent me homw with pain meds, anti inflamatories, and muscle relaxers. If pain hasn't stopped within a couple of days, will be getting a MRI.

Daylily, how did your husbands surgery go? and what is the recovery time? Hope he's doing fine now.

Hope you feel better soon! Hubby just had some discs removed in his neck and he's doing great a week later. Restricted, but off most meds. I'm sure back surgery has its own set of things to deal with. Keep us posted!

Recovery is different for every person. We know someone who lived with the pain for a very short time, had the surgery and then was back to normal in about six weeks. With DH, it was a different story. He let this go on for several years. The pain came and went. He tried epidurals for a while and that allowed him to buy more time before having the surgery. Towards the end, the epidurals didn't provide relief. After the surgery, it was immediate relief from the pain. However, after years of having that disk pressing on the sciatic nerve, the nerve is taking its time to heal. We're at two months post surgery right now. Not sure when or how he'll go back to work.
